Remembering the good ole days

Remember when…

You could get 25 of the coolest “penny” candies - Tootsie Rolls, Bit o’Honey, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Chic-o-sticks, Jawbreakers - all for 25 CENTS!

If you didn’t have any money, you just went by “the vacant lot” to get some soda bottles to cash in.

A bonfire on the beach at night was a common thing - so was the keg hidden nearby!

You could go to a “dollar” movie still or even further back in time, you could go to the matinee for 25 cents! (You could see the movie, get popcorn and a coke and still have 25 cents change!)

You could get a carload (trunk too) full of people into the drive-in for one price and see a double-feature!

An ounce of pot (in a sandwich baggie) cost $35-40 and was described as “three fingers” or “four fingers”.

You mixed your liquor with whatever - fruit punch, tea, apple juice - because you shared it with your friends between classes or during lunch.

There was always that kid who got the beautiful brand new shiny Camaro or Mustang for their 16th birthday.

Your tan faded during the winter, so you looked forward to “laying out” as soon as you could - not laying in a tanning bed!

You decorated your walls with not only movie stars’ and rock stars’ posters, but also with record album covers.
